PrismaClientValidationError: Argument is missing
PrismaClientValidationError:
Invalid `db.post.create()` invocation:
{
data: {
title: "Hello",
+ user: {
+ create: UserCreateWithoutPostsInput | UserUncheckedCreateWithoutPostsInput,
+ connectOrCreate: UserCreateOrConnectWithoutPostsInput,
+ connect: UserWhereUniqueInput
+ }
}
}
Argument `user` is missing.What it means
A required field or relation wasn't provided. The lines marked with + show what Prisma expected.
Common causes
- Creating a child record without its owner (no userId and no user: { connect })
- A new required field added to the schema, while existing create calls weren't updated
How to fix it
- Pass the relation: user: { connect: { id: session.user.id } } (or userId directly)
- When adding a required field to an existing model, give it a @default or make it optional first
Prompt for Cursor or Claude Code
Prisma says an argument is missing on create. Read the marked lines in the error, then pass the missing field or relation (for user-owned records, connect the signed-in user's id from the session). If a new required field caused it, suggest a @default.Not quite your error? Paste yours into the free VibeBoot Doctor or browse the Prisma error fixer.
